How Harborline mapped 340 screens
They started with the logged-out marketing site, then the authenticated app, then the admin console. The trick was owners on every node.
San Francisco · Est. 2019
Build GUI Maps turns websites, mobile apps, and internal tools into living maps: screens, click paths, and stakeholder walkthroughs your whole team can read in one sitting.
What you get
Import Figma frames, live URLs, or screenshots. We stitch them into a searchable map of every state.
Draw happy paths, edge cases, and dead ends. Share a link. Comment in place. Export a PDF if legal still wants paper.
Turn a map into a guided demo for sales, support, and new hires. No extra prototype tool.
Used by product orgs
Harborline Bank mapped 340 screens in two weeks and cut onboarding time for support agents from nine days to four. Northline Health uses one map for clinicians, engineers, and the compliance desk.
We keep the files in one workspace. Roles for viewers, editors, and guests. SSO on Business and above.
Read customer storiesSpring release
Paste a staging link. We crawl public pages, cluster screens, and draft a first flow. You edit. Nothing leaves your workspace unless you turn training on — and it is off by default.
Product
Chrome extension, Figma plugin, iOS/Android recorder, or CSV of existing screens. We match duplicates so you do not map login twelve times.
Auto-layout by section, or drop nodes by hand. Labels, owners, release tags, and “needs design” flags live on each screen.
Public link, password link, or SSO-only. Embed a walkthrough in Notion, Confluence, or your help center.
Diff two versions of a map after a release. See new screens, removed steps, and copy that drifted.
Workspace roles, guest reviewers, and audit log on Business. SCIM on Enterprise.
PNG, PDF, CSV, and a JSON map file if you want to keep a local copy. We do not lock your pictures in.
Solutions
Keep the living sitemap next to the backlog. Mark screens as shipped, in design, or deprecated.
Agents click the same map customers see. Fewer “where is that setting” tickets.
Hand a client a map of their new site on launch day. White-label the walkthrough on Agency plans.
Pricing

Customers
“We stopped maintaining a 90-page Confluence sitemap. The map is the sitemap.”
Priya Raman — Head of Product, Harborline Bank
“New nurses find the intake flow without paging a trainer. That was the whole point.”
Marcus Ellison — Clinical ops, Northline Health
“Clients sign off on a walkthrough, not a 40-comment Figma file.”
Elena Voss — Partner, Fieldwork Studio
About us
Build GUI Maps started in a Mission Street office in 2019 after three of us spent a year drawing the same checkout flow on whiteboards at a payments company. The board got photographed. The photo got lost. The flow shipped wrong.
We built a tool that keeps the map next to the product. Today we are 41 people in San Francisco, Austin, and Lisbon. The company is Build GUI Maps, Inc., a Delaware C-corp. We are independently owned. No private-equity parent.
Office: 540 Mission Street, Suite 820, San Francisco, CA 94105. Visitors by appointment. Dogs are welcome if they do not sit on the demo laptop.
CEO & co-founder
Former PM at a card network. Still writes the Friday customer letter.
CTO & co-founder
Built the first capture engine. Still reviews every public API change.
Head of design
Keeps the product looking like a map, not a spreadsheet that learned CSS.

A prototype asks “does this feel right?” A walkthrough asks “can you find it on Tuesday?” Different job. Same map.

Customer maps can contain unreleased screens. We do not train models on workspace files unless an admin opts in, in writing.
